Boatneck Bluebell - my first attempt at knitting a sweater! I finished it - yay!

Do I look proud? This sweater only took me six months to finish (!) I used Cascade 220 Heather, size 8 needles. DSC01049

I Shrugged.

Well, technically, I knit a shrug, but technicality can be sacrificed when coming up with a blog title right?
Sooo anyway, my birthday/Christmas/birthday project for my sister was inspired by two things. The first was that I wanted to do some sort of jewel toned top for myself, my sister and my mother. My deep purple sweater is done, Valerie's emerald-ish aquamarine-ish shrug is now done and my mothers Fuchsia cowell wrap is on the way! The inspiration for Valerie's colors came from her shoes. I remembered that she had a pair of lime green shoes and a teal/aqua color. While the color match didn't quite get perfect, I think when worn together they work quite well!

The Shoes!

The shrug from the front! (Duh, I know but whats a picture without a caption?)

I found the pattern in a fabulous book called Fitted Knits by Stephanie Japel. I like her sweaters because they arent frumpy feeling and super baggy, though if you choose to do any of her patterns be sure to double check her website for pattern ammendments. I made this shrug out of Lanaloft Worsted Weight 100% Wool yarn. The aqua color is called Turquoise Magic (LL92W) and the green is called Scottish Hillside (LL72W). This yarn was a dream to work with! Ask anyone who was around me when I was knitting with it. I kept saying "I love this yarn!" If you're interested in ordering yarn you could call Lynda (http://www.kmismccall.com/contact.htm) regarding ordering etc. I used size 9 circular needles on the whole thing. (Didn't bother with the smaller size for the ribbing. The shoulders fit perfectly when it was completed, but the arms were a bit big. That wasnt a problem since I saved sewing them up for last and took them in quite a bit!

~ Back 2 School Vest ~

I began this one at the end of last month but had to frog it since I twisted it at the join. heehee  I started again on the 4th and its coming along rather nicely.  I've just finished the P2 K2 which took abit but I made it.  I've started the middle ribbing type section and will begin the waffle pattern.  I can't wait to see it finished.  Here is a pic:000_0004

Back to School U Neck Vest FO

Backtoschoolvest_3 This was not even a project that was on the radar until I began to see fabulous FO after FO. With a set of ill-turning projects, I cast on for this beauty earlier this month. I am very pleased with the outcome. Specific details on modifications, etc. on my  blog.

Fitted Shrug

I love this shrug!

Yarn: Malabrigo, colour Pearl Ten.

I made the 16inch size, but probably should have gone up to the 17in. A really good pattern, i'm thinking of doing a black and red one.

Just (barely) in time for spring...

I'm done with the leaf-tie cardigan! Thanks to someone's advice on here, I made my leaf ties about half as big as the pattern instructed. Other than that, no modifications and I'm very happy with how it came out! I used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece (lime light) instead of Indulgence.

BTS Vest Done

I finished my BTS Vest. I like the fit. It took me several times to get the gauge right (and read the pattern). One day, I'll get it right the first time. ;-p I used 3 skeins of Cascade Quattro. I narrowed the straps a little, but next time I would decrease more.

Tiny cotton shrug

20080402_twotoneshrugI'm making the smallest size two-tone ribbed shrug for my future step-daughter in Ceallach Dyes' Summer Cotton.  I love how this yarn is knitting up, and I am so thrilled that it's coming together so fast!  I've only been working on it for about a week (for an hour or two in the evenings). More pictures & updates available on my blog and on my Ravelry project page.

Gauge for v-neck pullover?

Hi all--
I've had the yarn for a long time and finally sat down to cast on for my v-neck pullover.  I discovered a big challenge right away.  I'm having a hard time getting gauge (3.5 st/in) with the Cascade Pastaza--I've already gone from the recommended size 9s to size 10s and am still too tight.  Anyone else experience this?  I'm going to swatch again tonight with size 10.5s...any other ideas?  Am I missing an errata post somewhere?
Love seeing everyone's projects!  I've been having computer challenges but should be able to post pics of my back-to-school vest and my 2-tone shrug soon...
