spicy v-neck fitted T - yarn query
Hi all: wondering if anyone has endeavoured any substitutions for this. I have 2 skeins of Handmaiden Silk Spun (100 g = 150 m, stitch gauge = 15 sts per 4") in my stash which was purchased for a v neck tee. Then I saw this one.
The 2 skeins are enough quantity for the v neck tee pattern (which is also very cute and was designed by Haley at my LYS)... but the pattern calls for 600 g Cascade Bulky 109 (which I haven't used but which seems about the same as Brown Sheep Bulky and quite a bit thicker than the silk spun).
Any thoughts at all on whether the silk spun might work? (or, rather, whether I can get away with using it without having to buy any more?) I can probably get the stitch gauge by going up to 6.5 mm needles.

My sneaking suspicion is that you're out of luck w/the silk. If you need 600 grams of the cascade, which is a thicker gauge, and you have only 200 of the silk, which is a much smaller gauge, my guess is that you'd need at the very least 4 more skeins, and then going up on needles may make the fabric look too lacy. What does the other t-shirt pattern look like from your LYS?

I used the Soy Wool Stripe (Patton?) and got gauge with size 11 needles. It's not very fine, but is not bulky, either. I think the spicy tee would be fine lacier. It's a great sweater.
