Is this too big....

I'm making the size for the 36'' chest.  I'm moving along to gauge for the most part (22 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches).  I was a little nervous when I saw the latest posting for this sweater.  I wonder if it will be too big for me once I add the button band.  I did intend to bring down the waist another 12 sts to make the rest of the sweater fit the 34" chest size (bigger in the upper).  It may be hard to tell from the picture but what do you guys think?

By the way, I love not doing this all alone.

Yeah, that was me with the recent post about the too-big cardigan. I can pull mine around me and overlap the front by a few inches. It's hard to tell if yours it too big by the photo, but the rule of thumb I'm using is to insert about 1.5" down the middle for the button band and then judge the fit. I have a lot of room on the sides when I do this and, as I want a snug fit, I'm going to frog and rework in a smaller size. It all depends on how you want the final cardigan to fit you.

I like it so far, the color is really flattering on you.

I tried it on again and tried to wrap around. It didn't wrap very far so I think I'm ok. I didn't want a tight fit as I'm always afraid of my sweaters shrinking. Thanks for the advice.
