Pulling my hair out
All right, I've been struggling with the pattern for the spicy v-neck for a while now. I even had to put it in time out for a week or so. I finally figured out the body section shaping (the WFS and WBS business) and it seemed to work out perfectly. Then I got to the waist-shaping part and the whole thing blew up in my face. I'm somehow six stitches shy of her count. The front stitch count hasn't changed from when I separated the sleeves from the body, but the back stitches have--they had to, given the pattern, right? So why am I so off?
I'm knitting the 36 inch size, and at this point I'm supposed to have 103; I have 97. I'm tempted to just work the front straight until I get to the point in the pattern where I'm supposed to have 97 and go from there. Any thoughts?

I also had major problems with the back yarn over detailing. I took the whole thing out once thinking I had made a mistake, but then when I got to the same row the second time, I still had the same situation. The yarn overs were not in a straight row, they were sort of going at an angle. When I analyzed the pattern a little more closely, it looks to me like the back has to decrease in stitch nos. because you do some decreases and never have increases to offset. I emailed her a week ago, and she got back and said she would do some work on it and let me know. Have you had any new ideas?

At this point I've decided to keep on truckin'. I'm essentially ignoring the stitch counts and anything that doesn't seem logical or to work with what's come before. And I'm trying it on A LOT. I figure the worst that can happen is that I have to frog it all, but I'm willing to take that chance.

You are more daring than I am! I just want it to work right, without pulling out hair in the process. I just finished the UNeck Vest from this book, and it's adorable! Maybe Stefanie will get back to me soon with corrections for this pattern.
Good luck!

I'm too am having a little difficulty with the pattern for the Spicy Fitted V Neck Tee in the Fitted Knits book. In working the body, you end round 4 with the following number of stitches 101 (105, 113, 119, 125). I'm following the instructions for a bust 36, therefore at end of round 4 I have 105 stitches as per the pattern. Following the pattern instructions you up actually losing 2 stitches when you do the back center ssk, k1, k2tog in rounds 6, 12, and 18. When you follow the pattern instructions you end with the following stitch counts:
Round 6 = 103 stitches (2 stitches are lost as a result of the decrease in the back center)
round 12 = 101 stitches (2 stitches lost as a result of back center decrease)
round 18 = 99 stitches (2 stitches lost as a result of back center decrease)
So what confuses me is that when you start the waist shaping on Round 20 (you end up losing 2 more stitches). Here the instructions say that you should have the following number of stitches 99 (103, 111, 117, 123).
When you peform WFS and do the eyelet pattern in the front side you don't loose or gain any stitches ( ssk, yo, k1 sl marker k1, yo, k2 tog) The yarnovers = the decreases.
Likewise when you do the double eyelet patterns in the back. The only time you are actually decreasing is in the center of the back. As stated above, this is done in rounds 6, 12, and 18.
So just looking at the pattern I can't understand how round 4 ends with 105 stitches and then when you finish round 20 you have 103 stitches.
Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't see any increases. All of the yarnovers are balanced with either a an ssk or k2tog. The only decreases are used for the center back where the shaping occurs. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something or could this be a pattern error?
Just another side note, I also had difficulty with the very first eyelet placments in the back of the body (round 4). These are single eyelets on each side and then the next eyelets underneath are double eyelets. Looking at my knitting, the single eyelets sat both on the left hand side atop of the double eyelets. See below for diagram

This looked funny as the symmetry is off. The eyelights should pull in first before the waist shaping. Like a funnel shape. The eyelight should then be like this:
xx xx or this xx xx
xx xx xx xx
I had worked two rows of the double eyelets and I really was not looking forward to undoing these rounds to get back to that point. Somehow with a lot of fiddeling and the help of a crochet hook, I took out the single eyelets on each side of round 4 so my eyelets look like this in the back. They will eventually pull in when the center decreases are done.

xx xx xx xx
So perhaps I am wrong but there might be an error in round 4 and I think there is definately an error in the Sitch counts or perhaps I'm missing something
