Gauge for v-neck pullover?

Hi all--
I've had the yarn for a long time and finally sat down to cast on for my v-neck pullover.  I discovered a big challenge right away.  I'm having a hard time getting gauge (3.5 st/in) with the Cascade Pastaza--I've already gone from the recommended size 9s to size 10s and am still too tight.  Anyone else experience this?  I'm going to swatch again tonight with size 10.5s...any other ideas?  Am I missing an errata post somewhere?
Love seeing everyone's projects!  I've been having computer challenges but should be able to post pics of my back-to-school vest and my 2-tone shrug soon...

I have had gauge issues on several projects from the book. I think I went down a needle size or two on this one. I guess I knit loosely.

I had to go up to 10.5 to get gauge. I'm a tight knitter, too. I carry in the left hand--are you righty or lefty? I am finished with the body and my gauge still matches but my sweater tis very BIG. I measured myself again to be sure and I chose the right size. Maybe I can block it down a bit? This is my first sweater and I'm trying not to be disappointed. I know it will look better with sleeves!
