Gauge for v-neck pullover?

Hi all--
I've had the yarn for a long time and finally sat down to cast on for my v-neck pullover.  I discovered a big challenge right away.  I'm having a hard time getting gauge (3.5 st/in) with the Cascade Pastaza--I've already gone from the recommended size 9s to size 10s and am still too tight.  Anyone else experience this?  I'm going to swatch again tonight with size 10.5s...any other ideas?  Am I missing an errata post somewhere?
Love seeing everyone's projects!  I've been having computer challenges but should be able to post pics of my back-to-school vest and my 2-tone shrug soon...

Done.

Of all six sweaters I have knit out of the book, this one was the most frustrating with the guage and fit.  The third time worked well, but I think I should have just disregarded the gauge and stuck with the 15 needles suggested.  Anyway, it's done.Cariecardi

Spencer Coat

After doing numerous baby gift knits, I have now started this project, my sixth FK sweater.  I just couldn't get my gauge right using the Cascade Magnum and the 15 needles, so I tried 17's which were okay.  Started in the 17's, got halfway through, checked gauge again, and I just did not like it.  So I just frogged the whole thing and am going up to 19's.  I just can't believe I have to knit it with such large needles.   But I am knitting the largest size, and I do want it to fit.  Has anyone else had gauge problems with this knit or any others in the book?

Finished..well, sort of!

Finished my vest, but I want to rip out neck edging and redo it.  It will have to wait as I am making baby socks for impending deliveries.  I think the vest makes me look chubbier, but I love it anyway and will still wear it proudly!Dsc00008 Dsc00010

Help please!!!

I have got up to the darts for the bust increases and for the life of me I cannot work this put. I have unpicked twice so far as it looked a mess.

I know from reading this that I should increase on a K round to avoid holes by starting the K1P1 early, but what I don't get is this...
when I RLI, after the subsequet increases, are the stitches in between the RLI and LLI increased? My logical brain says yes, but my blonde brain JUST CAN"T GET IT  aaaarrrggghhhhh!

Please help a fellow knitter in distress.

Thank you.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I ripped out and reswatched. It came out to 4.9 sts to inch instead of the pattern's 4.5. I decided to do the 39", which is 2 sizes smaller than what I originally intended to make. I got a lot of knitting done over the weekend and have started the waffle stitch section. The increases area a little confusing. I don't know if I'm doing them "right", but at least I'm doing them  consistently.
