Fitted Knits Along

Done.

Of all six sweaters I have knit out of the book, this one was the most frustrating with the guage and fit.  The third time worked well, but I think I should have just disregarded the gauge and stuck with the 15 needles suggested.  Anyway, it's done.

Any suggestions for increasing body lenght?

Hi - I have finally joined the KAL after months of just viewing.  I have begun my first Fitted Knits project - the Carie Cardigan (I've been inspired by the current Jane Austen series on Masterpiece theatre).  I am very long waisted and estimate that this will be about 2 inches too short in length.  Where is the best place to increase in the pattern? I thought I could just knit straight after row 7 in the body (before the 5 rows garter) but am now thinking it might be to full. Is it better to knit a few rows without increasing between the increase rows?

Hi! After months of lurking about this KAL, I finally decided to join.
I love the patterns in this book! Too bad I knit slow. I finished knitting the Carie sweater last month. I haven't sewed the button yet though. I only had 2 hanks of the Magnum so I had to cut the sleeves short. Here's a pic, sans button. (Sorry if the image doesn't load. I haven't figured out how to post them.)

3/4 Sleeved Carie

This was fast!  But it would have been even faster if I knew which size was going to fit me best and if I knew I wanted 3/4 sleeves from the beginning.  All I need to do is find the perfect button.

Specs:
yarn: Colinette Point 5 in Neptune
needles:  US17
mods:  additional front opening increases after joining the body, knit sleeves in the round

My First Fitted Knit!

I've been following along with the KAL for a while but only recently had time to cast on for my first fitted knit.  I fell in love with this color of Colinette Point 5 after seeing it in a fellow Raveler's trade page.  We made a swap and I cast on for the Carie Cropped Cardigan the day it arrived.  The color is a bit darker and more saturated than pictured.

There was quite a bit of frogging and reknitting because I wasn't sure what size to make.  I settled at size xs.  I like the raglan sleeve depth of the xs (no baggy underarms for me) but would have prefered the boob coverage of a larger size.   As is, it's still not too bad.  I added extra front opening edge increases.

Cari Cropped Cardi FO

I finished my Cari Cardigan, I made it with 8mm needles and a little less than 2 balls of Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels, because of the smaller needles I needed too make the largest size in the pattern and it fits perfect, I love it, I also made the sleeves 3/4 length :)

My Turtleneck Tube Vest is now joined again after finishing the back and front, this should be done soon and i'm waiting on yarn for the Coquette Tube Top that's my next project from the book :)

Carie Cropped Cardi started

I started the Cari Cropped Cardi at the unheard of hour of 5am this morning!! after my youngest daughter woke up for a couple minutes than went back too sleep, I could'nt get back too sleep so I cast on and already have the body done :) it's made with Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels in Sapphire, i'm also still working on the Turtleneck Tube Vest, the front is done and the back has a few rows done :)

Finally ... an FO!

I finished this up today--my first Fitted Knits FO! The button and buttonhole need to be adjusted, but I've got another three months before cold weather hits to worry about that.

Details: I used Cascade Magnum, the recommended yarn, in camel, on size 19  circulars. I shortened the arms a bit by not doing as many stockinette rows before the yarn overs and not doing any stockinette after the yarn over repeats. I also made a size up from what I normally would make, since I think I'll be layering this over pieces quite a bit.

Bulky yarn ... instant gratification.

I heart chunky yarn

I feel like I've gotten so much accomplished on this in just a couple of hours--chunky yarn rawks. I'm using the recommened Cascade Magnum in camel and SIZE 19 needles. I knew I was a tight knitter, but this is like knitting with zucchini. Anyhow, it's coming along really nicely.

This is my second Fitted Knits project; the first was the DSL tank. It didn't go so well. Complete details (and scary pictures) are on my blog.

shrugs and cardies all around!

Well, here we go with a couple FOs.

First, here is my Two toned shrug. Knit in Cascade Quattro and Cascade 220. I fits beautifully. Pattern mod is that I lenthed the sleeves a little bit. They are also a little bigger around. I like a little roomy-ness. I do a LOT of knitting and I like the sleeves below the elbow just a bit.

Next is my Carie Cardie knit in OnLine Tondo in a beautiful purple. I added a couple extra rows in the garter at the bottom just because I am a bit long torso-ed and really the cardie ending on the boobs. yeah, not so much.
