Carie Cropped Flared-Sleeve Cardigan

shrugs and cardies all around!

Well, here we go with a couple FOs.

Tt_shrugFirst, here is my Two toned shrug. Knit in Cascade Quattro and Cascade 220. I fits beautifully. Pattern mod is that I lenthed the sleeves a little bit. They are also a little bigger around. I like a little roomy-ness. I do a LOT of knitting and I like the sleeves below the elbow just a bit.

Carie Next is my Carie Cardie knit in OnLine Tondo in a beautiful purple. I added a couple extra rows in the garter at the bottom just because I am a bit long torso-ed and really the cardie ending on the boobs. yeah, not so much.

Finally finished...

Today I got around to finishing my Carie Cropped Cardigan.  I only had one sleeve left and it's been sitting here forever.  So now it's done.  Well except for my ends but I'm too tired to mess with those tonight.  I still need a button but I forgot to get one when I went to JoAnns the other day.Dsc01911_2

Some of you may remember (or not) that I was working on the drop stitch tank as well.  I ran out of yarn, so I frogged it, and was going to make the smaller size since it stretches so much, but before I frogged I tried it on, and didn't really like it on me.  So instead I decided to use the yarn for the TTV, turtleneck tube vest.  Not really any progress there yet but there will be pictures soon! Carie Cropped Cardi Done!

Here's my latest FO - the Carie Cropped Cardigan from Fitted Knits. I don't yet have the perfect button, so am just holding it closed for the first picture and showing it open on the second (almost more like a shrug.)

I don't love this (me and superbulky wool like this Cascade Magnum have a love-hate relationship) but I think it will be nice to throw on for extra warmth in the fall/winter.

I made the smallest size on this one, and could have stood to go up one size. It will button, though, and in the back it fits right. So who knows.....it was quick and easy and will be warm in winter. And I really like the sleeves.

The only other Fitted Knits WIP I have going is the Alexandra Ballerina Top (pics to come once I separate the sleeves) - I am debating which one to start next. Maybe the Coquette Lace Tube Top as I have the yarn for it already in my stash...hmmm. I do like that leaf-tie cardi too, though.

New Project!

Dsc01412 Ok so here's what I've started today.  I was having a bit of a dilemma, I really wanted to make the Carie Cropped Cardigan but the yarn I was going to use...well I'm really allergic.  I thought my skin was just sensitive to alpaca, so I got some that was the softest I've ever felt.  Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky, in a light pink color, and I was planning to double strand to meet gauge.  Well just winding it up in a ball made my skin feel like it was on fire.  It doesn't help that I rubbed it on my arms and neck either...

So obviously that isn't going to work.  And if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands let me know.  I have been trying to get my hands on some kidsilk mohair...

Ok so I was disappointed about that, and then I saw some caron bliss that I've had hanging around forever...and it's chunky, why not double strand that?  So that's what I'm doing, it's sooo soft too.  I didn't quite meet gauge with it but really close and it's fine because I wanted something in between the smallest size and the next one up, so I'm doing the 36 inch bust and I think it will be just a tiny bit smaller.  I figure I'll need 6 balls to have enough but that's fine.  It's an awfully nice alternative.  This isDsc01420 such a fast knit too.  I wanted something quick after that tube top.

Dsc01423 And then I've got all sorts of plans after this is done.  Next I will either do the drop stitch tank in this red cascade pima tencel, or the leaf tie cardigan.  I have some mercerized cotton, which may or may not work for it, I'm still debating whether I want that color anyway, it's like a pale lavender rose.

I also have yarn for the saturday dress.  It's classic elite premiere in this gorgeous soft blue color and I think it will really bring out the pattern stitches.  I really want to make the dress, but a little scared of that much knitting!  I'm working up to it.  :) Dsc01422

cropped cardigan

i finally got around to taking some pictures of my cropped cardigan.  i knit it to go with this adorable dress i found at anthropologie.  if i look freezing in the outdoor picture, its because i am :) the lighting inside was terrible and i really wanted a decent picture.  i substituted brown sheep co's burly spun for the cascade magnum and added a few stitches to make up for the slight difference in gauge.  i also added several rows to make the sleeves longer but those were the only modifications.

Carie Cropped Sweater Before Sleeves

OK...here it is before sleeves..I'm about to start the first one now.  LOVE this pattern and the yarn, and although I was concerned about it.. (Lion Brand Thick-n-Quick in Claret), it is knitting up really well and really fast.  I had to make a size bigger to compensate for gauge, but this pattern was really easy to eye so I could make that decision.
