Coquette Lace Tube Top

waist shapping for coquette

I am almost done with my boatneck bluebell and would like to make the Coquette tube top next.

My question is, how do you add waist shapping to this? My waist is signifacantly smaller then my bust so I need the shapping for it to fit. Also, yarn wise did you feel like the cascade pima tencel held it's shape well enough or would a wool have been better?

Thanks guys.

Pink Coquette Lace Tube Top

Img_0175 ...another REALLY easy pattern from Fitted Knits :-)
It still needs to have some icord straps added, as it's a bit bigger than I planned, but it's a great top for wearing either under or over other tops....LOVE the layered look :-)
I made it with just one 200g ball of 100% wool from Bendigo Woolen Mills (the jacket is Rowena from Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark's book Knit 2 Together...They weren't made to be worn together, but I really like the way they look :-))

Coquette Lace Tube Top - Done!

Hi everyone, Here's my finished Coquette Lace Tube Top. Overall, I like it, but I think I will love it once I weave in a ribbon through the eyelets at the top. I left off the bottom eyelets, shortened the bottom ribbing. I used the recommended yarn, Cascade Pima Tencel. I am not sure what my next Fitted Knits project will be. Maybe the dress, if I get brave!! 8607 011 8607 008 8607 010 8607 009

Adding Straps to Tube Top

Thanks for all the nice comments to my finished Tube Top with straps. Since a lot of people were asking how I made the straps: they're crocheted-- it's not simple chain stich and also not single crochet but the thing inbetween-- I'm not sure whether I know the right English expression for it, but I think it's referred to as slip stitch. That will give you nice sturdy almost round straps, that have not too much ease, and are also not too tight.
Cheers,
Stephi

Tank Top formerly known as Tube Top

Hi folks,

finally I can show another FO-- the Lace Tube Top, but I added straps to change it into a proper tank top-- feel far too naked in a tube top, although I really like the look in other girls. AND the straps prevent the whole thing from sliding down all the time. This was a fast and rewarding knit in German cotton yarn that was on sale, the whole top has cost me less than 7 Euro, which really is remarkable. I've been wearing it a lot and washed it several times, and the yarn nevertheless stays beautyfully in shape. I'm quite pleased with the top, but as with all garments I've knit so far from this book, I again had to add a lot of waist shaping to make it fit (and it still is a little bit too loose for my taste, but quite comfy to wear). Please excuse the slightly embarassing summer party shot, I was just too happy to finally get a pic of me in the top, that I really had to post this now! In the meantime I've also finished a cotton-linen-rayon version of the Boatneck Bluebell with 3/4 sleeves which also turned out really nice, but unfortunately, I haven't yet managed to get a decent photograph.

Me, Again!

I didn't realize with my last post that I could assign multiple categories ... d 'oh!  (I'm not very familiar with Typepad yet.)  Here are my other two FOs, the Coquette Lace Tube Top and the Back-to-School U-Neck vest!

Coquetteback_3CoquettefrontCLTT is in Classic Elite Premier.  I added waist shaping and some wee crocheted straps, and removed a lace repeat because a) I was running short on yarn, and b) I didn't want it too long.

I really love this top. I definitely recommend a bit of nipping-in at the waist if you like tops to really hug your curves -- the top wouldn't look nearly as good on me if I hadn't!  (I have a little waist, so tops without waist shaping make me look dumpy as all get-out.)

The yarn for that one worked out very nicely, although I worry that it's going to pill over time.  It's very soft though, so it can definitely be worn right next to the skin.

UneckvestThe BTS vest is not my usual style, but I'm very happy with it despite the inherent preppiness.  I used Cascade 220 in a heathery pink/purple.  I omitted some of the bust increases to fit my wee chest, although for one row I increased on one side but not on the other -- the pattern stitch does a good job of hiding the goof, though!!  I can't wait until the fall, when it will actually be cool enough in Texas to wear it.

Also, be vigilant if you are making the XS size ... there is a minor math error in the back section that I didn't find in the errata.

I think I am going to re-try the TTV in Cotton Fleece (if my LYS has any decent colors in stock).  My first attempt made me look like some sort of toad -- which baffles me, because I haven't seen it look bad on anyone else, anywhere.  So I'm going to try it again with just a couple of inches of neck ribbing, as others have done.  I'm also going to adjust the shaping down for the aforementioned wee chest.

finished object: Coquette Lace Top

finished object: Coquette Lace Top from Fitted Knits

notes: knit using size 6 bamboo circulars, size 4 metal circulars in white and black Cotton Fleece. knit with 4+ inches of negative ease. still unsure about the pink ribbon, but i was watching Marie Antoinette while i was knitting this. next time i'll knit it all in one colour. how i'll wear this out (and not over pajamas at 2 a.m.) is still a mystery! perhaps will post a photograph when i've got that all sorted out. more details can be found here.

Hi, everybody...

I'm new around here, but equally as enamored of Stephanie Japel's Fitted Knits. I bought the book about two weeks ago and have just finished my first project, a modified version of the Coquette Lace Tube Top. Mine is more like a Coquette Lace Tank Top, or a Coquette Lace Vest.

I knit it with Valley Yarns' Longmeadow, which is a DK weight cotton/microfiber blend with a lovely hand, perfect for the muggy North Carolina summer it's about to endure. I used size 5 and 6 needles instead of 5 and 7. I improvised some straps and then applied an i-cord edging (a tiny one--knit on #2 DPNs).

This isn't the best picture in the world, as my scarf is covering the exciting parts of the sweater, but I wanted to include my first Fitted Knits FO in my introduction post! I only just finished it last night, so I'm still beaming. I'm about to upload some more photos to Flickr, so you can head over there if you're so inclined.

I'm an obsessive knitter and have already cast on for the Crisp Rectangle Tunic Top in lovely brown yarn--Debbie Bliss Cotton DK. Expect an update soon!
