Gauge for v-neck pullover?

Hi all--
I've had the yarn for a long time and finally sat down to cast on for my v-neck pullover.  I discovered a big challenge right away.  I'm having a hard time getting gauge (3.5 st/in) with the Cascade Pastaza--I've already gone from the recommended size 9s to size 10s and am still too tight.  Anyone else experience this?  I'm going to swatch again tonight with size 10.5s...any other ideas?  Am I missing an errata post somewhere?
Love seeing everyone's projects!  I've been having computer challenges but should be able to post pics of my back-to-school vest and my 2-tone shrug soon...

Finished Cozy V

I finished my Cozy V. I love it. First, because it actually fits. (No widows hump or hunchback as originally started.) Second, I love the color. It's funny, but I hardly have any green clothes. At the rate we're going this year, I should still be able to wear it on St. Pat's.

Almost Done on Cozy V

So far, so good. I have about two inches left on the body and have completed one sleeve. No more hunchback or mutated arms. :) I think my success is due to my buddha stitch marker that I use for good luck.

First Project from FK

I've been lurking for awhile admiring all the projects. I've started my first project from this book (because there are a lot of patterns I like). I decided to start with the Cozy V since it's only the third garment I've knit. I'm using Plymouth Suri Merino.

My gauge was different than what the pattern called for, so I was increasing along to I thought I should be. Well, I didn't read the pattern correctly and ended up increasing the front sections only by the markers instead of also increasing at the beginning of the row. I was making a sweater for a hunchback! LOL

So, I visited the frog pond and started over. I'm now in the ribbing section of the body. I'm really liking the tweedy green shades in this yarn.

First FO of '08!!

Cozy_v2_2 Pattern: Cozy V-neck from the Fitted Knits book by Stephanie Japel. On Ravelry.
Size: 36 1/" (93 cm)
Yarn: Cascade Pastaza - 6 balls
Needles: KP Options size 9 for the body and size 7 for the ribbing
Modifications: None really, just increased the body ribbing to hit me mid-hip instead of at my waist. The pattern is really straight-forward and well written. I actually want to make another one in a different color!

Check out my blog for a couple more pics. ;)

just what i wanted

Vdeepribs_3

hello, i was waiting for some sunlight in paris's grey sky to take a photo. i am very satisfied with this sweater. just so you know, i normally design all of my knits, having to chose from a book is not an easy task for me. but this seemed to have the perfect ingredients for what i need right now: a small neck opening to keep me warm, rather thick yarn to go fast and for extra warmth, a hugging fit because after all i am a woman and women need other sweater shapes than men.

i used a self striping yarn that's machine dyed in color "jeans". it took me seven 50 gr skeins to knit it while on the skein band it said i needed 10 skeins for a sweater, which means this pattern is a yarn saver.

for paris it was cheap as i payed 21 euros roughly. my gauge sample was just a bit smaller with the number 5 mm needles than with the number 5.5 mm requested in the book because i needed negative ease and the smallest size was for a size 34" and i am a size 34".

what i like the most? i had seen those knitted here and the neckline did not seem as small as in the book, i am glad mine turned out like in the book.

wow got my invite today

hello,

i am parisian from france.

i had bought stéphanie's book some time ago but did not look in it for a pattern to make. last week as i was slipping on some clothes, i noticed my sweaters were getting worn out, so eeks, emergency knit kit>>> walk to my LYS and i pick up a yarn that should be bulky enough for one of the patterns.

hehe, i had no idea i would make something from the knitted fit, oops! fitted knits book< i am french sorry, haha. ok so here was i browsing inside my books for once because this time i HAD to not create something of my own and use up those books to justify my spending money on them... some more tomorrow if i manage to log in.

THE SWATCH IS YOUR DESTINY

Hpim0798 This is my roomie modeling the finished cozy v-neck. I used Pastaza in Lichen Green, which I think is a dreamy yarn to work with (if a little bit fuzzy). This was a splendid knit. I was knitting this for a special friend, thinking of her with every stitch. But I foolishly ignored ALL SANITY and ADVICE and didn't knit up a gauge swatch, so it fits none but the wee-est of roomies. DON'T DO IT PEOPLE...DON'T IGNORE THE SWATCH even if you're using the same yarn and needle size...do not knit headlong into the breach...

Also, I was compulsively watching Season one of Heroes during the last week of knitting this...

Any thoughts on blocking garments knit in the round, or blocking things to make them BIGGER?

Cozy V-Neck FO

This has been done for a while, but because it has been too warm to wear, its been hiding in my closet. This is worsted Malabrigo in Orchid, I used four skeins making the smallest size. I love it, it fits perfectly and the yarn is incredibly soft, I highly recommend it.

Textured Tunic Tempering

Hi, I've been lurking for about a month.  I finished the cozy V neck sweater with advice from your postings. (I'll have to post a picture later.)  I've just cast on for the Textured Tunic and I've thought about changing the pattern in the box stitch to something else.  Has anyone done this?
