Elizabeth Bennet Cabled Cardigan

Periodic Cable

Imgp0364Hi everyone! a wee bit late off the mark, but i thought i'd say hello cos i'm making the Elizabeth Bennet cabled cardigan. I was a bit indecisive about what size to make so I've kind of wavered between a 34 and a 36. I think i have a bit of a problem with following instructions in general, I feel the need to go off on my own little personal meanderings along the way. As a result, I have a slightly strangely shaped garment. It's probably a little too much on the close-fitting side... but I made it a bit bigger round the shoulders so I can point at objects in trees without ripping anything. Hopefully if I don't eat too many pies between now and winter it'll be ok.... it's actually too hot even to try the currently existing half-a-cardigan on at the moment without breaking into a mild sweat, so sadly i don't think i'll be able to wear it any time soon. It's in the recommended wool, an angora / merino mix. I'm very much enjoying making it... it feels very soft and snuggly and the cable section was very satisfying to do.Imgp0358

Newbie says hi: Elizabeth Bennet Cardi

Hi guys!

Just joined, and am saying hi! I've just started the EB Cabled Cardi, well, cast on a gauge swatch anyway. I amazingly got gauge on the first go.

I'm using Bendigo Mills Classic 8ply, in Tuscan red (cherryish colour) - its similar to the KnitPicks Merino Style maybe (i'm in Australia). I only have 1600m, so I plan on knitting the body plain, with waist shaping and no cables, but hopefully there will be enough for cables on the sleeves.  I plan on knitting the band at the same time, instead of picking up the stitches too. YAY!

yarn substitute for Elizabeth Bennet Cardi

17393Hi all! I'm getting ready for my next project from Fitted Knits and although I already have yarn for both the Textured Tunic and the Cozy V Neck Pullover, my eye is drawn to the E.B Cabled Cardi over and over.  I'm looking for suggestions for a yarn substitute for two reason 1. cost 2. I don't particularly care for angora.  Any ideas?

Thank you!

Bobbi
