Short-Sleeved Cardigan with Ribbing

Finished Short Sleeved Cardi with Ribbing

I went back and forth about this knit before I made it. Would the chunky weight of the yarn be too chunky? Would it make me look fat? I actually finished this a month ago, but I hadn't got around to blogging about it here. :) Okay so here goes! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I threw caution to the wind and just went with it. I am glad I did, because I love it! Its a great knit. A few minor boo boos (like sleeve stitches and ribbing mix ups) but other than that it was a fabulous knit. Very quick in this yarn! I used the recommended Cascade and Knit the 41 inch? And did the waist and sleeve shaping of the size smaller. The buttons are from ButtonsGalore on Etsy. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The only thing that I don't like is its a little baggy right under the arms. Its not something anyone else notices, but I do. If I ever knit this again, I would make a size smaller.

Favorite Fitted Knit yet!

I finished this a few weeks ago but was waiting for my cloud buttons to come in.  Luckily the sizing worked out fine since they were special order.  If anyone is interested special order clay buttons I  got them from mudcakes on etsy.  This yarn is Debbie Bliss cashmerino which was just lovely to work with!!!  I am super happy with the fit too.  This time around I took it off the circular needles and wove yarn through when checking sizing.  I think that made a big difference for me.  Currently I have the cozy v neck on the needles and am loving that too.  Yay Fitted Knits!Navycardi Cloudbuttons

Finshed No.1

I finshed this weeks ago and finally got round to taking some photos, in the back picture I have cut off my arm but it shows up the colour so well and both arms look the same so as long as one is there. Picture_008_2

As it was my first fitted knit I tried not to adjust the pattern unless it need it so this pretty much as specified for the smallest size. I love this cardi so so much I know everyone is saying it but it is a great knit and fits so well I am very pleased with it! As I said I stuck to the pattern if I did another one I may start the ribbing a little bit further down just about an inch or so to level it better with my waist, I used the recommended Cascade 128 in rasberry and love the colour.

My First Sweater!

I finally finished! It really didn't take very long about 2 weeks, it just took a long time for me to finally decide on making a full sweater. I love the way it turned out, but I am missing a button at the top. Knit_001_3

Fitted Knit #4

Hi, all,

I actually finished this weeks ago, but just got around to snapping the photo. This was a really fun knit and, I'll say it again, I LOVED this yarn (the recommended Cascade 128). I will have to find more reasons to use it. I had to shorten the body and the sleeves only made it to the first section. That's what I get for being short. Now I am working on #5 and #6, the Thick N Thin and the Two Toned Ribbed Shrug. Only knitters can think about sweaters in 103 degree weather!Ribbedcardi

Short-Sleeved Cardi

I cast on for this sweater last week and bound off the body on Saturday. I'm using lion-brand mohair look yarn in color 'Chili'. Although I tried this on as I went (kind of) I decided I didn't like the look of the deep ribbing and am contemplating ripping it back to the horizontal ribbing section along the waist and modifying it to be a little shorter with shorter ribbing. Has anyone else done this? I like the look of the sleeves in the pattern and will probably keep them the same. Suggestions for mods would be greatly welcome. You can see more of my knitting progress on my blog.

Cardi_copy Here is the progress on my cardigan. I knitted the button band and sewed on the buttons before doing the sleeves as I was waiting for my dp's to arrive in the post as the shops round here are useless. They arrived this morning so I can finish of the sleeves now then I just have to block it. I used  cascade 128 like the pattern suggests in great rasberry pink and bought some rather funky leopard print buttons to use.

Another Fitted Knit Started

Another fitted knit started in the suggested yarn, Cascade 128, in Tangerine. For those contemplating this project, I have to say this yarn is yummy!!! Very springy, not splitty, pretty yarn. I am loving it. I bought mine online at Yarn Country.Shortslvd

Short Sleeve Cardi Finished!

Img_1348Hi everyone!

I just joined the knit along but I already have one project finished. I started the Short Sleeved Cardigan with Ribbing about a month ago mostly because it fit the gauge of some Cotton-Tots yarn I've had in my stash for a few years.

I hadn't made a top-down raglan before so it was fun to try out. I added some short rows to the bust area and increased the length. The hardest part in reading the pattern for me was the horizontal ribbing. I figured out the design called for 3 rows reverse stockinette stitch, 2 rows st st and three more rows rev Img_1477st st.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the result. Next, I'm planning to make the Crisp Rectangle Top with some blue yarn I bought.

Happy knitting! Beth

Finished!!!

My cardigan is finished! I'm really happy with the way it turned out - the fit is great despite my concerns about the ribbing being too tight. Jewels_cardigan_front_view I wrote an extensive description on my blog (come visit!!!), but here are the key details:

Pattern: Short-sleeved cardigan with ribbing

Yarn: Cascade Jewel, just under 4 skeins. I made the smallest size and had about 1/4 of the last skein left.

Needles: Clover bamboo, size 9 and 10.5

Mods: I shortened the ribbing portion of the sleeves from 15 rows to 10 because I have relatively short arms and wanted the sleeves to hit above the elbow. Otherwise I followed the pattern exactly. Be sure to check the errata if you plan to make this, as there are several mistakes in the pattern.

Overall I'm really happy with the way this turned out. I blocked it before knitting the buttonbands, which I think was a good move because it allowed me to block the top portion to be a bit longer Jewels_cardigan_back_view(thus losing some width where it wasn't needed) and the ribbing as wide as possible without the buttonbands getting in the way. I didn't block it again after adding the buttonbands, and I don't think it's necessary. I'd highly recommend this yarn if you can find it, and the pattern is quick and easy. The only thing I really noticed, and someone else has mentioned this as well, is that the bust region and just above is a bit large in proportion to the ribbing. This might be mostly me, in that I'm not very busty, but I wish that part was a bit smaller and the ribbing kept the same. If I make this again I think I'll try to figure out a way to make that happen. But, if you're bustier than me, well, this would be perfect!

This was my first completed sweater, so I took loads more pictures. You can find them, and more sweater info on my blog!
