FO Textured Tunic!

OK so I've been done with this for about a month now and was worried about trying it on because I thought the upper sleeves were going to be too tight.  Well tonight I finished another sweater and since hubby was taking pictures I put it on, and hey way do you know it fits great!! I'm really happy with it! 20071112_knitting

I think I made a size Medium, I didn't do the slit on the top or the buttons on the bottom.  I did add a few waist increases, oh yeah I also picked up and knit 3 rows of K1 P1 ribbing on the neck.

Now the weather needs to get cool enough so I can wear wool!

My textured tunic!

I finished the body in the spring, but during the summer it was just "ignored". But for 2 weeks ago I finished it. I really like it, but I am not sure about the gaps above the buttons on each side!Texturedtunic

Plugging along

OK so I'm moving along on my Textured Tunic.Knitting_004  I'm doing some modifications, one was that I didn't split the neckline. I want to be able to wear the sweater to work.  So I was knitting away and I was confused by the directions for splitting off the fron and back, and I wasnt' sure I wanted the buttons anyway so I did a decrease after the box stitch, then knit a bit increased, knit somemore increased again.  I'm planning on knitting to about 13 1/2 inches then doing the seed stitch before binding off.

I was just thinking I don't think I ever posted my FO drop stitch lace tank!  Better get hubby to take picts before the end of the month!

Textured Tunic Tempering

Hi, I've been lurking for about a month.  I finished the cozy V neck sweater with advice from your postings. (I'll have to post a picture later.)  I've just cast on for the Textured Tunic and I've thought about changing the pattern in the box stitch to something else.  Has anyone done this?

Finished!

I actually finished this earlier in the week, but it took a couple of tries in different light to get the color to come through accurately. As you can see, I modified the neckline (though I see that didn't keep my bra strap from showing!). I also only did side slits, no buttons. I did a lot of waist shaping, so much so that when itTextured_tunic_on1 is off of me, the shaping looks oddly exaggerated. I mostly worked to the smallest size, but did the next size up for the arm openings. I then stayed with 40 stitches for the sleeve until below the second section of purls, then added 4 stitches over 4 rows, rather than decreasing in the top section. That wouldn't have fit my arms at all.   I thank so many of you for sharing how you made many of the modifications, that helped a great deal. This is the first project on which I deviated so far from the pattern, and I must have tried it on 30 timesTextured_tunic_1 as I was working on it.

The yarn is Adrienne Vittadini Donata (70% alpaca, 30% acrylic), and the sweater feels a bit scratchy on. I am hoping that washing will take care of that. I've also read that soaking an itchy garment in a tablespoon of  hair conditioner before washing really helps. The garment looks a bit see-through in the box stitch section, though I didn't notice it looking that way when I tried it on. Maybe the flash had something to do with it. I am still puzzling over how much yarn I had left. Based on the yardage, I needed 11 full balls of this yarn. Since I bought it at an out-of-town store, I got 12 balls, just to be safe. And in the end, would you believe I only used 6?!?  (73 yards per ball).

I am taking a short break from bigger garments, making the convertible hat/neck warmer Sugar on Snow from knitty.com, but I think I'll make the cropped cardigan with leaf ties next. Though the weather here in upstate NY is getting so chilly so quickly I might not be able to wear the cropped cardigan till next spring.

Textured tunic on the way...

Well I couldn't resist.  Knitting_003

I'd finished up a couple of projects so I wanted something fast and easy, and I've heard this was....so I cast on last night....I decided to join right away so I can wear this to work.  I'm knitting the size 37 on size 10 needlesI'm using RYC soft tweed in a pretty blue gray color.  I though it would look nice with kahkis for work. I'm still itching to cast on for the airy lace wrap too....

Help Please

Could someone explain this line in the pattern for me?  I feel kinda stupid at this point.

"SET-UP RND: [Knit to marked st, purl to marked st] twice. Cont working side slit trim at each marker for 5 more rnds, following chart from rnd 2."

Here's mine

I just started this pattern last week and I have to say that I love, love, love knitting from the top down. I get excited very much when knitting something like this. Img002141 I'm using the Bernat Satin in Admiral. I love how it feels against the needles.

I'm giddy...

I just got the Drops/Garnstudio InkaGarninka4flypg_2 yarn which I'm going to attempt making a Textured Tunic with. I am seriously giddy over this pretty yarn - this pic doesn't do it justice! (It has blue and green in it, too). I really want to attempt making a long duster coat with this yarn, which would be almost like the technicolor raincoat...LOL.

Plus, I got some Lana Grossa Royal Tweed at a really good price at this German yarn shop, so now I'll be knitting a couple of Fitted Tunics for friends, too. Hee!
