The TTV is Finally a FO

100_0776   Here it is!  I finished it yesterday afternoon.  Man...was it hard to finish that ribbing.  Now I think my next project will be the Alexandra Ballerina Top, which I'm making for my mother for Christmas.  Next month is NaNoSweMo, so its going to be my challenge.  I also have a skein of Cascade 220 left from this project and I think I'm going to use it to make Stefanie's One Skein Wonder.  Check out more pictures on my blog.

Progress...

I've managed to get the neck, front and back done on my TTV and I just joined it into the round this afternoon.  Its coming out sooooo pretty.  The picture doesn't do the yarn justice.  I'm using the Cascade 220 that the pattern calls for, but I found a 220 Heather color in dark teal that has purple, blue and red mixed in.  Its the perfect top for fall in the perfect color.  I can wait to finish it so I can wear it and show it off.  I'm always so much happier once a project I'm working on starts to take form.  Be sure to check out my blog.

Joining In!

Hi Everyone!

I just joined the KAL as I picked up the book last week.  This is my first project from the book and I'm starting it today!  A co-worker and I are knitting it together.  It looks super simple and I'm knitting it with Cascade 220 yarn like in the pattern, but I'm doing it in a teal heather color.  I'm so excited, as soon as I can get it started I'll take some pictures to show my progress.  I'm so excited to see all of your turtlenecks.  I think my next pattern after this one will be the Alexandra Ballerina Top.  I look forward to checking in!  You can also check up on me on my blog.

My first FK FO, the TTV

As a foreigner living in the US, I've always been... mesmerized by the American use of acronyms. Hence the title for this post :)

This was actually finished a while ago but I've been too busy on ravelry to put it it here. Anyway, here goes:

Size made: 38''
Needles: US5 and US7 (3.75 and 4.5 mm)
Yarn: Knitpicks Swish Superwash, Coast Grey

I didn't want this to be too form-fitting, so I went a size up (!!). For the front, it worked fine, for the back it was a little disastrous. I didn't realize until the vest was done that since the front and back are identical, the back bulges like crazy when the front fits just fine. Silly me. It's not too bad, though, and I've definitely gotten some wear out of it.

If I make another one (which I just might, even is spite of the oh-so-boring deep ribbing), I might mix up sizes (35 or 36" for back, still 38" for front) and/or enhance the fitting in the back that is accomplished by starting the ribbing earlier on either side of the back... so maybe start this ribbing earlier and use more than just one rib. If that makes sense. I would also close the armholes a little sooner (they're a tad too deepPicture_039 ).

The first picture shows the poor fit of the back, exaggerated by the noon sun. As long as I remember to pull the bottom of the vest down all the time, it's ok!

Then you can see the somewhat loose fit in the front in the second picture. I really like the fit in the front!

Finally Finished

For weeks all I needed to do was weave in a few ends. When my sister called me Friday evening to go to an Oktoberfest it was enough motivation to finish it. It was a fun easy knit and I love the yarn Cascade 220 Heather the color is celery and the picture doesn't do it justice. I probably would make this in cotton next time because the wool is a little too warm. I am not sure whether I will wear it alone. I don't like how the cut of the armhole looks on me (sorry no pics yet of me wearing it). So Friday night I wore it under my jean jacket and loved it! I am now waiting to get my larger needles I ordered from Knitpicks so I can start the Bold and Bulky Mini Cardi.

Half-way down...question about fit...

Hi....I've just joined, and am working on my first project from this book (the TTV).    I'm now 3.5 inches down from the armholes, and have some questions to you who have successfully completed this project!

At this point in the pattern (size 36), it calls for me to add another set of ribbing on one side (so that one side is k57 across (not sure if it's the front or the back), and the other is k51 across).  Which side is the front, which is the back?    Are the extra 2 columns of ribbing to help taper under the bust?  Just trying to picture it.

I've been trying on my TTV as I go....and when I tried it on, I'm having a hard time picturing the placement of the extra 2 columns of ribbing, and how that should tailor the fit.

Thanks!

It's My First

I've been eyeing this KAL for months now, pretty much since I bought the book ealier this summer. It inspired me to start my own web blog. I finished my first project the Perfect Periwinkle Turtleneck Tube Vest. I used the Cascade 220 superwash. I think I'll make it a little longer, but it looks good enough for me.

I also realize that I need to get better at this picture taking thing. I'm working on the Puffed Sleeve Feminine Cardigan now. Wish me luck!

TTV - the first skein

Ttv2_081207 My first WIP from Fitted Knits! I started this a couple of days ago and felt like sharing my progress with you. Knitting this I've found out I'm not a big fan of k3, p3 ribbing (too easy to make mistakes!!) but I absolutely love how this looks. The yarn is Knitpicks superwash wool in Coast Grey. It's incredibly soft and nice to work with and the color is exactly like I wanted it. I always get cold around the neck in chilly weather and therefore I made the turtleneck a smidgen longer than the pattern specifies. It's very cozy, even without the body :)

YAY! I finished my TTV.

I actually finished this about 2? weeks ago, but hadn't gotten around to posting about it here. I wanted to share the finished project. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I made this with regular cascade 220 heather that I had in my stash. I think the color is sky? but I cant say for sure. It fits surprisingly well. I really made it to make it, not necessarily to wear it, but I think I just might. Once winter comes around, of course. Here is another FO from FK. I made this little while ago, but hadn't been a member of the KAL yet. Its my favorite knit of all time, so I had to share! Hope the pictures work! An upcoming project and a question

Hi all! This is my first post to this KAL but I have been lurking in the shadows for a while now, being very impressed with all the beautiful projects you guys are making. I received the book a couple of days ago and am now waiting for the yarn for my first project, the Perfect Periwinkle Vest, to arrive. I can't wait to get started!

In the meantime, I have a question for you all. I would really like to do the Tweedy suit in the back of the book but I think that the bulky/chunky yarn would make it too warm. Has anyone out there tried their hand at this project? Any luck/unluck with substituting thinner/another yarn for the one called for? And how do you think that a thinner yarn (say, dk) would affect the drape and shape of the garments? Redoing the patterns for a different gauge doesn't frighten me as much as knitting a garment that will look totally different from how I want it to look like! Any comments, suggestions and advice are more than welcome!
