Two-Tone Ribbed Shrug

Tiny cotton shrug

20080402_twotoneshrugI'm making the smallest size two-tone ribbed shrug for my future step-daughter in Ceallach Dyes' Summer Cotton.  I love how this yarn is knitting up, and I am so thrilled that it's coming together so fast!  I've only been working on it for about a week (for an hour or two in the evenings). More pictures & updates available on my blog and on my Ravelry project page.

do i need it?

Shrugdoss_3 Shrugfaces_2 hello, this is the best i could do with the sky of paris. i wanted to spoil my mother to this shrug because she always can use more warmth around her shoulders.

i knit this shrug using "bergere de france" 50 % "laine peignee" which makes the wool look like mohair in the smallest size as mom is petite. however, i do not think she will be interested in this as she is for a serious roominess, wanting to layer a shirt under it. but this fits me good i think, the collar stands up in the back, which i like very much.

now i will knit the periwinkle turtleneck with it, a sleeveless turtleneck is only good in magazines to me as i would suffocate from heat on the neck and get chilly on the arms. so the shrug will act as arms for it.

Finished!

Yay! I finished!  I LOVE it.  Love, love, love it.  This picture does not do it justice, but that's ok.  It's still fabulous.Dsc00882_2

I made the size 17 with 7 balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino.  I lengthened the sleeves (obviously), but everything else is the same.

I also finished my U-neck vest a few weeks ago & forgot to post it here.  It's Cascade 220 superwash & it's yet another great design from this great book.

Give me strength!

I'm at the neckline ribbing on the two-toned shrug.  It couldn't be less stimulating.  How are you guys managing to not poke yourself in the eye from boredom?  I catch myself just holding my needles and not knitting all the time!  It's so stupid, too, because look how close I am to being finished!  Knitting_197 Hopefully the prize drawing deadline will motivate me to finish by Sunday.

Finished!

(...finally!)

Piks_061_2 I really like it.  I'm pleased with the colors, and it is comfy.  The shrug fits my shoulders (go, measuring!), even though it looks big on my arms.  (I also have skinny, kind of scary-looking arms, which may be another reason.)  The Cascade 220 Superwash did "bloom" or relax a bit after the washing and blocking - and smelled a bit funny, but that is fading.

I'm looking forward to my next Fitted Knit!  Not sure which one....

Taa-Daaaa! Fitted Knit #6

P1010002 Here is the latest Fitted Knit I've completed:  The Two Tone Ribbed Shrug. I used some Filatura di Crosa worsted weight yarn from my stash--yay! Love that. It is just in time for some fallish weather we are having here in VA. I even used my new wooden Options needles from Knit Picks. I wasn't sure if I would like the effect of a shrug on my figure, but I do like it. The sleeve length is very flattering. As we've seen in this KAL, this project looks great in a large variety of yarns and colors.

I've started Fitted Knit #7, the Boatneck Bluebell Sweater, in Cascade 220 Tweed. Lots of circular knitting! My favorite!!!

FO Two-Tone Ribbed Shrug and new WIP

I really enjoyed knitting this.  The raglan increases...love them, the ribbing increases...love them, too!
I know I will wear this a lot, as my favorite knit so far is the OSW and this is very similar...grown-up version.  I'm thrilled with how I didn't mess up anything on this one....there's a first!

Yarn: Cascade 220 The Heathers 1 skein MC 1 skein CC
Needles: size 5 alum. circ. for body and size 3 bamboo circ. for ribbing
Size: 15"

I'm sure I will make another, different colors...maybe a solid.Fitted_knits_005a_smallFitted_knits_015_small

On to my new WIP - the Bold and Bulky Mini Cardi.  I just so happened to have some Thick & Quick in my stash (which I almost donated last week), but I decided to go with it.  I started yesterday and this is what I've done....also an easy, quick, enjoyable knit.  Well, except for using size 15 needles....hate that.

Moving along with two-tone

I am so embarrassed - this project has hibernated way too long!  Part of it was (an)other project(s), and part of it was that I was just being squirrelly about doing the short arm seams.  Silly, right?  Anyways, now I am moving along, and I have a slightly better photo for the colors.

Pic_030 I usually wear very drab colors, but I am looking forward to finishing this and wearing it around in the Autumn weather.

FO two toned shrug

Well here it is, my emerald shruggy shrug: 012

I made the 16" size and used 3 skeins of Malabrigo (so soft and yummy) worsted in Emerald.  I love the color of it! I used whatever the book called for and got gauge spot on (dramatic gasp, as that never happens).

010 I enjoyed making this...it went fast, though I stalled out a bit on all the ribbing around the neck.  I plan to make another one in black to keep at work.  If I do I may make the dreaded boring ribbing around the neck a little longer.

It's pretty nice and I think it will get a lot of wear once the weather turns a bit cooler in the next couple of weeks!

Fitted Knit #5 Finished

Hi,
This photo doesn't do it justice, and the two greens in the solid part do not contrast nearly that much, but this will give you the general idea of my finished object.
Click on the photos to see them larger. I used the yarn from the pattern, Cascade Jazz and Cascade 220. The body goes very quickly because of the chunkiness of the yarn, it's the ribbed parts that take time. I ripped out and redid the button hole band and it came out better the second time. The only problem--I may have to move to a colder climate to get more use out of it. Next up: Two-Toned Shrug and a possible Bluebell Boatneck.Thicknthin2 I'm going to see how many projects I can do from this book!  WendyThicknthin1_2
