Been Skinny Dippin' in the Frog Pond

I have been working on the Lace Tee for a while. I had no problems with the back or the first sleeve. So I thought. I finished the sleeve so quickly I thought I start the second sleeve. Well, then I "actually" looked at the pattern again and knew I had completed the whole sleeve in the wrong pattern. On well at least it's not a long sleeve. I have finished the back and both sleeves and have the front started. It's so pretty. I am hoping to have it finsihed before I start back to work on the 8th. Gracefully Gathered Halter Top and Boy Short - CO

Cast on for it tonight.  I'm excited, it's such a cute pattern.  I'm using Berroco Pure Merino which is a smaller gauge yarn, but I did a few needle adjustments and I think it's going to be ok.

Shaped Lace Tee - Done!

Here's my first FO from Knitting Lingerie Style, sans model (it's for my sister-in-law, who's tiny, so there's no way I'm getting it on me). Really quick knit--only took about a week from start to finish, without knitting constantly.

More details on my blog.

Next up: the Bed Jacket (finally), which is blocking as I type.

Bed Jacket progress

Well I have had some progress with the Bed Jacket.  I am actually stash busting *pats self on back* with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Tan.  It was originally intended for another knitty pattern and was scrapped.  Once washed WOL is much softer than when it's knitting up so I hope I like it. It seems to be the perfect antique-looking color for this pattern.  The pieces are small so I had to pin them open on the bed so you can even see them.  So now on to sleeve island.....

Fit-n-Flare Some More!

Fit-n-Flare Trumpet Skirt #2

The last Fit-n-Flare was so much fun, I decided to take the plunge and make one in the recommended yarn --- Diakeito Diarufran.

The Diarufran is beautiful and just wonderful to work with (especially after the denim cotton that kept staining my hands blue). It's extremely spongy, and makes a surprisingly lightweight fabric. To make the 32" size I bought 7 balls rather than the 8 indicated in the book since the yardage per ball seemed generous (160+ yds/40 grams). I ended up using about 4.75 balls. I worked the main portion of the skirt about one inch shorter, eliminated five set of increases at the bottom, and did the drawstring in another yarn (RYC Silk Wool DK), all of which would save some yarn. My guess is that to make the skirt to pattern dimensions, I would have used 6 balls. Obviously, your mileage may vary, but if you were thinking of using this yarn and were discouraged by the price, you might be able to get away with buying a little less of it. I ended up ordering one more ball from Kathee so that I could supplement the leftovers to make a tank.

This skirt has a slightly less drapey feel than the denim one, probably due to the yarn and also the fact that I worked it at about 5 st/inch. But I love the colors and think it'll be nice and cozy for the fall.

Progress Pic

Just a quick picture to show how fast this is going!  Of course it's all ribbing, but still.  I'm already on the home stretch of the back here, into the armholes.  And obviously it looks narrow, b/c of the ribbing, I keep looking at it, doubting that it will fit, but only until I remember Dsc02185 it will stretch quite a bit!  This yarn is soooo soft, I love it.

Hi I'm new

Hi there, my name is Beth and I am new to the group.  Actually new to any Knit along at all.  I got my book a few weeks back and love it.  I have completed the Gartertini (minus the straps)  and I am almost done the Rouched Camisole and I just bought yarn to make the silk and pearls cami.  I have plans to make just about everything in this book.

Here is a picture of my gatertini (It's been a joke for quite some time that I am going to start knitting my DH's underwear, so he got a huge kick out of seeing my knit undies panties

FYI

I've noticed that first and last names are showing up on some posts. I think you can work around this by changing your "nickname" in Typepad to however you'd like to sign your posts. If you want to republish your posts to reflect this after making this change, I think you would just need to go back into each one and republish.

New To KAL Almost

I didn't recall signing up for this KAL but knew I wanted to and there I was, LOL.  I just received the book and will be picking out my project soon.  Nice ot see what everyone has been doing.

Silk Slip

Knit_silk_slipHi all, I've just joined. I bought the book a little while ago and have been dreaming over the pages. It is a little traumatic for me to go yarn shopping where I live now and I've been dreading trying to find substitutes - I dislike buying wool online because the colours always look different! - but anyway - I've started on the Silk Slip and so far so good.  Here is my sample. Was very lucky and got almost the same gauge. Relief! Am using Sublime - Cashmere Merino Silk DK in cream.
