Getting this KAL Going Again...

Hi everyone,

Despite a few very generous offers to take over administration of the KAL, apparently this won't be possible as Blogger will export content out, but not import it in. So...I thought it would be fun to get this KAL going again as it's been quiet lately. Along those lines, if you also have White Lies Designs patterns you'd like to blog about here, I'd like to expand this KAL to include those as well. I have purchased a number of Joan's patterns and haven't gotten to them yet, so I would love to see more FOs of them as well as get motivated to work some up myself.

I still have some patterns to give away that Joan had generously donated last time around for the contest, so how about if we do our next drawing just after 3/31 for projects finished through that date?

And the Winners Are...

Ashley and Cheryl! There were only two FO comments in reply to my post regarding the contest, and I received seven patterns and three nippers from Joan, so I've decided to give each of you a pattern and nipper. I'll save the other patterns for the next contest after 12/31.

The choices are:

1. Bella Pullover or Cardigan

2. Filigree Lace

3. Nicole Camisole and Panty

4. Madeline Shawl Jacket

5. Milinda Pullover (I have 2 copies of this one)

6. Easy Lace Jacket

Thanks again to Joan for donating these! It was very generous of her. When I was linking the patterns above, I noticed that there are a lot of new patterns on the site, so go check them out! I am also re-inspired to knit some of the ones I bought previously but have not yet made.

Ashley and Cheryl, please email me to let me know which pattern you'd prefer and your postal address. If both of you want the same pattern, I'll give it to the person I hear from first.

Contest Status

Hi everyone,

Sorry I am a few days late with this. Someone graciously brought to my attention that there was no Tip Jar showing up on this site, and I discovered that I actually did not have it configured for this group. So, the entire balance I posted about belongs to the other group, Fitted Knits Along. My question for all of you is - do you want a prize drawing? If so, should we do it later (say for knits completed from the beginning of the KAL through 12/31?) or get contributions now to do one now for knits completed from the beginning of the KAL through 9/30? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

9/30 Prize Drawing

Hi everyone,

We are approaching September 30 soon, and I plan to have a prize drawing to give away the funds we have collected through the Tip Jar. Check other Admin posts for history if you're new to the group, as I think we discussed this a few months ago - but you will get one prize drawing entry for each FO completed between July 1 and September 30.

However, I need your help with something. Typepad recently discontinued their "Earnings" feature which would provide detail of Tip Jar donations and affiliate (ad) earnings, and deposited the balance of $38.33 to my PayPal account last month upon discontinuance. What I didn't realize until now is that they wiped out the history of donations when they did this, so I don't know which donations were made to this KAL vs. the Fitted Knits KAL. If you donated funds to this KAL, could you let me know how much either by email (rm090195 at gmail dot com) or comment to this post? Also, if anyone would like to donate, you can still use the Tip Jar but please be sure to indicate which KAL you're donating to.

Thanks! Once I have this information I can determine how much of the $38.33 belongs to each KAL. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I didn't realize that Typepad was going to wipe out the history.

Shaped Lace Tee Finished...

Last night I finished the Shaped Lace Tee from Knitting Lingerie Style.  I love it and know that I will wear it often.  I chose a moss green color for fall and plan to make another one in Ivory.  Cascade Sierra is a great yarn to work with.  The only adjustment made to the pattern is that I added 1 inch to the length so that it adequately covers the waitband of my jeans. This tee was truly a project that I could have completed in a week, but as usual, I experienced several interruptions that diverted my attention or left me too exhausted to keep the momentum.   However, I was anxious to finish this top this weekend so that I could move on to my next project.  I think I want to tackle the trumpet skirt next. FYI

I've noticed that first and last names are showing up on some posts. I think you can work around this by changing your "nickname" in Typepad to however you'd like to sign your posts. If you want to republish your posts to reflect this after making this change, I think you would just need to go back into each one and republish.

Interview with Joan M-M and Lingerie Hardware Kits

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that our very own KLS member Adrienne has her interview posted with Joan McGowan-Michael as part of her latest Inspirational Wednesday podcast.  It's great - check it out - and leave some positive feedback on iTunes or their show notes if you like the podcast.  I don't know how she gets time to podcast with everything else she does, but she and her co-host Toya do it consistently, and do a great job of it at that!

I also was browsing around on Joan's web site and found hardware kits for some of the lingerie items, like adjustable straps and slides for the garters - but I really was impressed with the corset kit and the bra kit.  Less than $10 each, these have everything you need as far as underpinnings for these more unique knitted garments.  There is also a one-piece wonder kit for $14.50, still reasonable given the (seeming) complexity of this garment. I admit that I had wondered where I would get some of these "ingredients", and now I feel like I could tackle knitting these as I would have the components.

Email vs. On-Site Responses

If you already know me from the Fitted Knits KAL and my blog, you know I always respond to comments/questions via email to the original questioner. However, on this KAL, I think I am going to start responding right on the conversation thread so that if someone else has the same question, they can also read the response.  That seems to be the approach they take on the Sexy Knitters Club site and it works pretty well - people just check back on the particular page they posted to originally to see if their question was answered.

Also, there is something called TrackBacks in Typepad, but I don't know how they work. I think they help you keep track of whether there've been additional comments on the thread.

July 1 is Almost Here!

Hi everyone,

I know I haven't posted much at all this last month with everything going on, but I am here and excited to get this KAL started! July 1 is less than a week away and I ordered yarn for the surplice lace wrap top (Elann.com Callista in "Tarragon" and the shaped lace tee (off white Cascade Pima Tencel).  I'll post pics when it arrives - any minute now!

I also wanted to let everyone know that Colorful Stitches is having a 50% sale on Vittadini yarns, including Celia which is used for the true lingerie type items (the bra and panties, and maybe a slip, I can't remember.)  I've never seen Celia for $5ish per skein, so I may be getting some of this myself.

I still need to type in categories for each of the patterns in the book, so that we can keep everything organized by pattern.  I also need to set up the "Tip Jar" for prizes.  If you are a member of the Fitted Knits Along, I'm thinking it can work similarly to that.  We won't have any drawings until at least a few months from now - maybe September 30 - but I just wanted to mention it for now.

Any questions/suggestions/comments, just let me know!

Robin
