Beautiful Bed Jacket!!!

This weekend, I just completed the finishing touches on my bed jacket.  Now I am searching for a vintage jeweled button for a closure.  This project is wonderful...!  It is great for the intermediate or advanced beginner who is looking for a challenge  or test of your knitting skills.  I used the recommended yarn Cascade Sierra in aubergine.  This yarn is great to work with.  There are a lot of pieces to knit and assemble.  The pattern instructions are clear and on point.  Everything came together nicely.  The fit is perfect.  I made no adjustments to the pattern.  To my misfortune, no one home at this time to take my picture as I model my new finished object so I took a few pictures of it hanging as a place holder for my post.

There is no doubt that I will wear this jacket for years to come.  I have a couple of pairs of pajama pants and a pair of slippers that coordinate wonderfully.  After a long day at work I will toss this on with my PJ's and get cozy with a cup of hot chocolate.  I will also wear this jacket this fall with feminine skirts and with jeans and lacy cami.  There are so many options.  I would like to thank Robin for putting this KAL together.  I have enjoyed working all of my projects from Knitting Lingerie Style and will knit a few more before I put this book on the shelf for safekeeping.  Joan has a fan for life!  The trumpet skirt is my next project.

No Bed Jacket For Me

Guess what?  I picked up some clothing from the cleaners and look what I found.  My pink shrug that is oh so similar to the Bed Jacket.  I just had to take pics and show it to you. So for now, other than the desire to knit one for the joy of knitting, for a friend, or to just have a longer version I will not be spending time fantasizing about the Bed Jacket. I did think the shorter version would be a perfect mod inspiratiion for someone.  Enjoy!

Bed Jacket

Finished this about a week ago, but just got some good pictures of it. And yes, I'm wearing swishy shorts.
Details

Made in the 43" size, which turned out to be a little big around the waist, but I'm hoping it might shrink a bit in the wash.

Yarn: Cascade Sierra in a sky blue (I forget the color number, but it's sky blue. These pictures are pretty color accurate). I used one less hank than called for in the pattern, and I'm not sure why. Guess I have to figure out something to do with an extra hank of Sierra.

Size 9 metal needles.

This one, as well as the golden gloves from February, are going into the fair entries (if I'm motivated enough to drive all the way there sometime in the next few days.

Bed Jacket progress

Well I have had some progress with the Bed Jacket.  I am actually stash busting *pats self on back* with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Tan.  It was originally intended for another knitty pattern and was scrapped.  Once washed WOL is much softer than when it's knitting up so I hope I like it. It seems to be the perfect antique-looking color for this pattern.  The pieces are small so I had to pin them open on the bed so you can even see them.  So now on to sleeve island.....

Hello from a new member

Hi, my name is Anna and I blog at Annasflyingneedles. I have been lurking here for a while and finally became a member (Thanks Robin for such a fast response). The first project on my list is the Bed Jacket. I already bought the yarn, Sierra in light blue. After I saw the Bed Jacket Stitchywitch finished, I knew I had to knit one. The fact that it is made out of Sierra is a big bonus. I used this yarn for a sweater for my husband over a year ago and it has been holding incredibly well even after being machine washed and dried several times. Yarn_for_kal_001_512_x_384_2

I also love the Silk and Pearl Cami and I am thinking about using Artyarns Regal Silk. I have three hanks in my stash in almost the same pale blue color. The gauge is different (5 stitches per inch for the Regal Silk vs. 4 stitches of Classic Elite Temptation) but hopefully I will be able to figure something out. I don`t want to buy more yarn right now as I have to save so I can splurge on Lorna`s Laces for the Fit-n-Flare Trumpet Skirt.

Bed Jacket Progress

This thing is going fast. Just a sleeve and the two sleeve edgings left to go. I'm making the 43 1/2 inch size. I was torn whether to make that or the 39", but I think this one will fit quite well, especally since it's a layering piece.

I'm using Cascade Sierra in color 45 (a deep sky blue). The color in pretty accurate, at least on my monitor.

I can't wait to finish it. Unfortunately, as I suffer from the second sock syndrome, I also suffer from the second sleeve syndrome. I'm still struggling through the sleeves for the lace-front sweater. Working in a tiny guage for that doesn't help when I'm working on this sweater, either.

Looking forward to seeing all of your things!

New KAL member!

Hi all,

I'm new to the KAL. My name is Sharon and I do my blogging over at http://stitchinwitch.blogspot.com/.  I am really excited to start working on the Bed Jacket pattern.  I am fussing over which yarn in my stash to use as I think I am being so choosy because I want to keep with the muted or pale antique color.  I'll figure it out soon.  Choices are Knit Picks WOA in Tan, Jo Sharp Soho Summer in Cloudless (pale blue), or Classic Elite Spotlight in Antique Rose.  I would prefer to use my stash as it has grown to mammoth proportions recently.  I only have mild *rolls eyes* guilt about this.  LOL.

I can't wait to see everyone's progress. And a big shout-out thank you to Robin for hosting!
