Thanks!

I just sent the email to my instructor and dropped the class through the web site. It's done, and I feel so relieved! This tells me it was the right decision. Now for that bonfire....

Last night after I posted about dropping, I decided to work on the Cable Down Raglan I had started a few weeks ago, as I thought something that takes a lot of concentration might be just the thing to distract me from my blah feeling about the sewing class. It worked like a charm! I got the first 12 rounds of the cable chart done and now this is making a lot of sense. I had been confused about it before, but now it made perfect sense.

So yay!

I plan to show 28Thirty, take in the waist/hip on the Wicked skirt and model it with Wicked, and show pics of Cable Down Raglan this week. Also I'll be posting about shore excursions for my trip (flight out on FRIDAY NIGHT) and telling you about a special "guest blogger" I'm going to have taking over my blog in my 2-week absence.

Have a great week!

I can't believe you leave so soon!!! You will be missed! :-)

I'm so glad you dropped it. It was so not worth the aggravation. Ooooh, guest blogger, eh? I can't wait to see who it is! :)

You sound so much lighter. Like a burden has been lifted. And just in time to not have it hanging over your head on your trip!

Good for you! It's a real shame how projects and crafts we love turn into "get it done" and "I'm dreading this" instead of the initial purpose. In the words of my Mother Kwacha "Smart Cookie!"

I think the letter sounded perfect, and if you're having no fun sewing like that, it was definitely the right decision to make. Glad you're happy about it.

Proud of you! You have to take care of yourself.

You're right to have dropped the course. There are enough things in life that require deadlines, and the sewing/knitting shouldn't be another. One thing I liked about my class was the "go at your own pace" structure. We had homework (usually busy work like basting), but the actual completion date was up to each student.

Given all you know now, you can probably work with a good tailoring book and make a jacket at your own pace.

Are there any teachers in your area that have a more tutorial arrangement so that you don't spend time on things you know and you can focus on things you don't (without deadlines)? Perhaps Luanne can recommend some.

I think you made the right choice! Your relief you feel certainly confirms it. The pressure isn't worth it when it comes to something that you should enjoy. Can't wait to see your 28thirty!!!

It sounds like you made the right decision. If you want to do another jacket, I would suggest a simple traditional blazer which will have regular side seams (a problem you mentioned with yours) and lapels which are pretty basic with jackets. Vogue has some nice patterns from Claire Schaeffer who has written books on tailoring . I haven't looked at them, but I would bet they are really well written and would be good for learning jacket construction! I can't wait to see your cable down raglan. I have had yarn for that since last winter when I first saw that pattern. I'm not a fast knitter, so I can't bring myself to get involved with it yet!

Yep right choice indeed!

OOh! I can't wait to see who will be your special guest blogger! What FUN!!

awww, hope you have a great time

Good for you! I think you will feel better and less stressed about sewing with out the deadlines!

Can't wait to see the FOs!

I bet you can hardly wait to get out of the north and onto your cruise!!

I'm just getting caught up on everything. I think you were right to drop it, it's hard when something you love becomes "work". Less stress is always better.

Congrats ~ glad you are feeling better and hope you have a wonderful week that turns into 2 fabulous weeks of pure bliss. ;D

ps ~ can I come too? LOL
