Just Get Me Through This DAY!
After no word from my group members all weekend long and yesterday (um, today is the due date for the business plan and presentation) I finally get an email from the biggest slacker in the group telling me he wants to change something. I have everything set to flow all the way through the Excel file with eleven tabs of financials and three scenarios, so I basically reminded him where the cells are that he needs to change, and was kind of like, have at it! Do not EVEN do nothing for three months, having me change 900 things to run them different ways and add complication, and then try to change something else at the last minute. Have fun! I am so glad I'm not presenting this. I had to basically sit on my hands yesterday not to email them and say, HELLO? Is anyone doing anything?? If I were presenting on top of everything else, I would have had to do that. Ugh. If I can just get through this day, all I have left is the final next week.
OK. Breathing again. Let's talk knitting.
I hit the WEBS sale on Pima Tencel yesterday and bought a medium blue color for the design on the left by Kristen TenDyke (I'm really seeing a lot of her designs lately and liking them!) from the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of Vogue Knitting:
and I already have some ivory Pima Tencel in stash that I could use for the tunic on the right, which I also like.
I bought some bright pink Pima Tencel for Dayflower, which is by Angela Hahn, who is also the talented designer of the beautiful Wakame Lace Tunic
and some bright green for this
from the Classic Elite Summer 2 Book. I really like that Classic Elite has gotten with the program (unlike most other yarn companies) and published a number of seamless designs in their most recent designs. Good job!
I brought a skein of the ivory Pima Tencel with me to swatch the lace for that VK tunic to keep my blood pressure normal while dealing with these SLACKERS today. If I can just survive this day, everything will be beautiful, especially after next week when the final for this cluster&&&& is over. Ugh.

Good Luck!!! That is one reason I hate group work, although this semester's group work went really well (shame the other 2 of the group graduate and leave this summer)which is unusual.
Love the bottom pattern it would work well with lots of different bottoms

UGH! I wish you well! LOL I don't like group work for that very reason! I am sure you will do just fine though. That blue is GORGEOUS!!!

See, scenarios like that are the reason that I often like to work alone or with one other person on big projects. I just don't trust the average slacker. :(

So, what happens to your grade if they eff up the presentation? Or, are we not thinking about that right now? Breathe... breathe... breathe....

I really like the blue one in the middle. It is an interesting pattern! The left one seems interesting, too.

wow how annoying. I hate working in groups for that very reason.
Oh and I have that first sweater is on my list too. Thanks for the reminder on the pima tencel!

Group projects are the worst! I had a group member plagerize most of a paper. We trusted him, so I didn't look at it until the night before it was due. I re-wrote the whole thing that night and nearly went batty. I thought about turning him in but felt since it was a group project and I could fix it, I'd let it go. I wish I hadn't because I saw him at graduation a few weeks later getting his master's degree. I was an undergrad and assumed he was too. It disgusted me that not only would he cheat but that he put us all in jeopardy. If I saw him today I'd punch him. Anyway, thanks for the sweet message the other day and good luck with finals!

I detest group projects. I always wound up doing most of the work. So now I avoid any kind of group project liek they are poison. Fairly easy to do now that I am not in school....

grinding my teeth along with you! how v. frustrating.
And I certainly hope your business plan was something along the lines of "show pretty patterns, make reader immediately go to webs and purchase." I am trying to decide between the one on the far right, far left or Dayflower. Any advice?

OH I hope you made it through! I hate slakers like that! There's always some in every group it seems! Ken had a realy loser in his last masters class, he did nothing, and got mad when EVRYONE else in the group complained about him!!

that classic elite in the green you mentioned will look amazing! i think the green will look gorg on you!
take a deep breath in, and let it out...you will get through this day!

Yes, definitely work on some knitting! I remember how group project work stinks. Too bad the slacker couldn't be fired. In fact, I tell my kids that unless they want to be in charge, don't pick their slacker friends for group projects at school because they'll end up doing all the work. Friends can turn into enemies real quick doing something like this LOL!

Sorry to hear that your group didn't pick up the slack. At least the presentation is over now (thanks to you). The cable and lace pic on the left is the one I said I liked. How funny.
